It is a beautiful Victorian pedestrian street located at the northern end of Bloomsbury, just south of Euston Station. It was designed by the architect Thomas Cubitt in 1822 as a pedestrian street – hence the street’s name ‘Woburn Walk’. As such it was London’s first purpose-built pedestrianized shopping street. Much of the original architecture has been maintained, including the Dickensian bow-fronted buildings and three storey Grecian frontages. The unique shops have curved bay windows opening onto both sides of the street and they also spread onto the west side of Dukes Road. These unusual shops, bookshops, galleries and cafes are hidden historic gems.
